Clinical Internship
Internship options may be required for medical students seeking licensure to practice in medicine Guyana.
Clinical Internship candidates must have completed their medical curriculum including the passing of Final Exit Examination and approved licensure examinations (USMLE or CAMC).
Internship covered is of One Academic Year (02 semesters) consisting of clinical work only, offered in Four (04) major disciplines namely, Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Internships are carried out at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). The GPHC is a government-owned 600 bed, teaching hospital managing about 10,000 inpatients and approximately 100,000 outpatients per month.
GMU maintain a relationship with licensure bodies and medical councils of several countries and will facilitate its international medical students to complete internships in their respective country of origin.
